Children in Need and Care

Selected data sets about children in need and care based on two official statistical returns by the Department for Education that are published annually. The first is called "Statistics: children in need and child protection". The second is called "Statistics: looked-after children".

These data sets can be interrogated through a range of tools including the DFE Local authority information tool, a new experimental DFE tool to support a range of data sets relating to children, and the Children's Commissioner benchmarking tool called CHLDRN.

App developed by the Children's Commissioner which gather all available information on the full range of risks and disadvantages faced by children. It provides a detailed picture of the numbers of children at risk in England at both a national and local level. It makes available over 100 indicators across different age ranges and types of risk, and supported comparison of variation across England.
