Openspace rural – Rural Open Space. The Council’s main objectives for open space, sport and recreation facilities are to: provide a wide range of high quality open space and sport and recreation facilities that are accessible to all residents of the District and increase the provision of these in areas of demand where resources permit; protect existing open spaces and sport and recreation facilities from inappropriate development; and protect and enhance the District’s recreational footpaths and public right of way network.
